Adaptational, Translational and Interdiscursive “Space of Mistake”

Abstract
The test considers the idea that intermedial mistakes, “betrayals”, miscalculations and deliberate deviations might be productive, insisting that a classic hierarchy of the generative discourse placed “above” the mediated discourse is not only mistaken but also unproductive. In the process of translation as a kind of adaptational competence, all manner of media discourses pass through the processes of complex dehierarchization and restylization, in which the intentional display of translational – mediating – conundrums and decisions considerably enhances the creativity of intermedial processes. Special emphasis is placed on Ron Padgett’s poetry and poetic theories alongside interlingual experimentation in poetry.
