Abstract

As a result of a dissimilar dynamic of the com plete social, political and economic transition in Croatia and Slovenia, the transformation of their state television into public one was carried out differently and unevenly. Initial developments of HTV as a public television were slowed down by the war, but also by the political influences present until 2000. Unlike in Croatia, from its beginning, the media transformation in Slovenia was developed more freely and independently. However, a decade and a half later, HTV is financially more stabile and technologically more developed then TV Slovenia, and as a result of a recent change of the RTV Slovenia Legislation, HTV is also politically more independent.
