Abstract

This paper shows hammer mill energy costs in the grinding process of corn grains and soybean pellets. On the basis of the data obtained in a three year survey the value of energy consumption with three different worn-out types of hammers was calculated. From the economic aspect, considering mutual influences of working elements price and the price of energy used for grinding, it is possible to calculate the grinding price of each worn-out hammer, and thus, define their optimal replacement period. Analysing hammer mill labour energy it has been concluded that more worn-out hammer mill working elements result in higher grinding price.
