On the clock problem in the special theory of relativity

Abstract
In connection with the clock problem in special relativity a new thought experiment is discussed leading to the traditional solution. The accelerated frame is replaced by a family of inertial ones. In this case the round trip times can be calculated from the viewpoint of any of the inertial observers within the special theory of relativity. No additional fundamental assumptions are introduced besides the supposition that ideal clocks exist. The solution of the problem in this case reflects the structure of four-dimensional space-time.
