Abstract

This work shows the implementation of operation types 10.1.7. Maintenance of extensive orchards (EO) and 10.1.8. Maintenance of extensive olive groves (EOG) from the Rural Development Program of the Republic of Croatia for the period 2014-2020. during the eight-year period 2015-2022. Based on the data of the Agency for Payments in Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development in order to analyze the implementation of the mentioned operations in the territory of the Republic of Croatia, the data on user applications, their representation on agricultural areas by county, approved financial means of support and the observed effect of the mentioned operations in the context of the number were analyzed interested users for the implementation of these operations. The work also analyzed regulations, identified difficulties faced by potential users and other participants responsible for implementation and control, and offered answers to the most common questions faced by users of the implementation of these operations. The eight-year average of applications and requested grants was for EO=50.63 ha and 21,993 euros of grants, and for EOG=359.6 ha and 298,946 euros of grants. In the eighth year of the impact analysis, a total of 109 ha was reported for EO and 52,312 euros were approved, and 532.25 ha was reported for EOG and 427,930.6 euros of support was approved. Although the implementation of EO compared to EOG was significantly weaker, its effectiveness can be significant because it depends on the set goals, which are set based on the identified needs. The continuous increase of areas and the number of interested users for the implementation of EO and EOG imply the continuation of the implementation of these practices in the future, and their additional contribution to the achievement of the climate, environmental and biological goals of the Common Agricultural Policy, will be provided by the promotion by policy makers, advisers and employees of the Paying Agency in agriculture, fishing and rural development.
