Abstract
The letters from Artur Cronia to Giovanni Maver, together with one letter from the latter to Cronia, constitute valuable pieces not only for reconstructing minor episodes – at times even small incidents of an almost familial nature or pertaining to the close circle of acquaintances of the two protagonists. The correspondence presented here illuminates not only the individual trajectories of the two founders of Italian Slavic Studies, but also bears witness to the social and cultural dynamics that presided over the formation of the disciplinary field of Italian Slavic Studies between the 1920s and the 1960s.
