Abstract

Advantages of fibre-reinforced high-strength concrete, particularly in improving the bearing capacity, durability and usability of traditional reinforced-concrete and prestressed structures, are explained. Experimental and theoretical expressions for analyzing beams subjected to transverse forces are presented. All relevant parameters, and the contribution of interlocking of aggregate grains as well as the beneficial action of fibres, are considered. The use of this concrete is recommended for the construction of load-bearing and permanently-usable structures.
