Why are national and regional professional and research journals in librarianship important?

Abstract
Objective. The author's intention is to discuss the role of Croatian national and regional librarianship journals.
Methodology. The paper is based on selected sources and on the author's experience in working on the editorial boards of several international journals and in editing the Croatian Librarians' Journal.
Results. In addition to an overview of the journal's most important features, the author also suggests several activities that could improve publishing activities in Croatian librarianship.
Social significance. It is to be expected that the proposals listed in this paper could serve as a starting point for a discussion on the future of Croatian librarianship journals.
