Abstract

The Mediterranean region in Slovenia spreads from the Bay of
Trieste to the pre-Alpine hills and valleys, and lies within two
countries, Slovenia and Italy. The paper will briefly explore how the
Mediterranean was treated within the framework of Slovenian
ethnology, and some of the topics will be dealt with in order to
contribute to the discussion about the local and the global
"readings" of the area.
