Abstract

As there are no universal typologies of entrepreneurs within economic and sociological literature, this paper presents the new and internationally relevant typologies of entrepreneurs, in order to identify the key variables for a new typology of Croatian entrepreneurs. The author claims that such an overview of the present economic and sociological typologies of entrepreneurs can help domestic researchers to make their entrepreneurial research more tailor-made and more comparable on an international level. Due to that hypothesis, the paper displays the basic logic of typologies in social sciences (sociology), gives an overview of the typologies of entrepreneurs in the relevant (sociological) literature and offers some key variables for the typology of entrepreneurs under Croatian conditions. According to the author, sociologically based typologies of entrepreneurs must include variables such as: type of enterprise founder, the nature of economic growth, types of markets, presence of business and technological innovation, corporate social responsibility and the business mission of the enterprise-owner with regard to the wider social and business community.
