Abstract

With a daily increase in the demand for electricity, the largest transmission systems in the world are facing the harsh reality of enormous investment in the rehabilitation of existing systems and the construction of newer, more powerful transmission and distribution systems. Consumers expect a reliable, safe and quality power – supply. We need power systems capable of satisfying those requirements in varying operating states. The key parameters for power transmission safety and the maintenance of power system stability are voltage control and the compensation of reactive power that can be achieved by SVC devices (Static Var Compensators) which are themselves the origin of the FACTS devices and technology, which control the devices by energy electronics.
