Abstract

The author discusses Heidegger’s seminars “On the Essence and Concept of
Nature, History and State” (1933/1934) and “Hegel on the State” (1934/1935).
The only recently published seminars shed a particular light on the relation
between Heidegger’s thought and National Socialism. This article primarily
investigates Heidegger’s interpretation of Hegel’s definition of the concept,
role and task of the state. The author shows that Heidegger’s interpretation is
in fact an attempt to justify, through arbitrary interpretation of Hegel, his own
interpretation and justification of the national-socialist state and its leader as
the pinnacle of the Western philosophical understanding of the state.
