Abstract

There are s great deals of benefits in biogas production. Biomass used in biogas production is a renewable energy source. In the Slavonia and Baranya region the conditions are extremely favourable for developing and production of biogas. We used samples of swine manure with addition of 20%, 40% and 80% of sugar beet silage. The control group was swine manure without any addition. All groups were set up in three repeats. Greenhouse gases carbon dioxide and methane were monitored. Maximal quantity of 57% of carbon dioxide evolved in the mixture of swine manure with 40% of sugar beet. Maximal quantity of 64% of methane evolved in the mixture of swine manure with 20% of sugar beet. Using biomass as an energy generating product reduces the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
