Sažetak

Starting from the Anthology of the Croatian short story by Miroslav Šicel, and from his definition of the genre, we are questioning the relation between short story and other genres, especially its relation to a novel and to a publicist writing, particularly in regard to its connections with journals, both literary magazines and newspapers. With aim to compare different editor’s concepts and different theoretical positions, we are considering other anthologies and collections of short stories in Croatian literature, mostly those came to being after Šicel’s, which are interesting because of its links to the new cultural phenomenon known as festivals of reading. At the end of this study, we are raising the issue of "gender features" of a short story, mainly in a context of the opposition between particular stylistic formations, first of all between the reality’s prose and the postfac short story.
