Sažetak

The aim of the research was to determine and to evaluate the chemical composition of maize silage (MS) samples (n = 130) from 48 dairy family farms (OPG) of continental Croatia. The MS samples were analysed during 2013 and 2014 in terms of origin, the samples were divided into 3 groups: (i) Eastern (I), (ii) Northwest (NW) and (iii) Central (C) Croatia. According to determined dry matter (DM) concentration, NIR spectroscopy was applied to predict the corrected DM (CDM), crude protein (CP), starch, neutral detergent fiber (NDF), organic matter (OM), metabolic energy (ME) fermentative metabolic energy in ME (FME / ME), acidity (pH value) and digestibility of OM in DM (D-value). The results of the study indicate the average high DM concentration (389.29 g DM kg-1 fresh sample), desirable starch (336 g kg-1 DM), ME (11.5 MJ kg-1 DM) and D-value (73.7%) in analysed MS samples. Significantly higher DM (P <0.01), CDM (P <0.05), ME (P <0.01), FME (P <0.05) and lower CP (P <0.001) were predicted in 2013 compared with 2014. The average DM content in NW region was higher comparing with C region (P <0.05) in 2014. For other chemical parameters between regions, years and within the regions, no statistically significant differences were determined (P> 0.05). It was concluded the determined chemical parameters indicate high MS nutrition value and low variation in quality between the years, family farms and Croatian region involved in the investigation.
