ON THE GROUND OF THE TRIVIAL: A LETTER FROM TRANSITION

Sažetak

The text deals with the possibilities and uncertainties associated with the internal treatment as an issue and documentation of "the state of transition" of Croatian culture, under circumstances of transposition of international attention away from the problem of
"nationalism and antagonism" towards the new foci of interest of post-socialist studies. The example of one symbolically striking cultural event indicates the necessity for fundamental changes in critical and analytical perspectives, due to newly-emerging
semantic blurring and inversion, and the involvement of media and pop-cultural segmentsin the traditional system of Croatian political culture.
