ON THE ADVERBIAL VALUES OF RELATIVE CLAUSES IN THE FRENCH LANGUAGE AND THEIR TRANSPOSITION INTO THE SERBIAN, CROATIAN AND BOSNIAN LANGUAGES

Sažetak
This paper discusses the adverbial values of relative clauses in the French language.
Namely, relative clauses can express meanings analogous to those expressed by
adverbial clauses (causal, consequential, permissive, temporal, negotiated, intentional),
which is largely recognized in the literature related to the French language.
However, it seems that in the literature dealing with the Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian
languages, there is a lack of more detailed consideration of this phenomenon,
which would allow a broader insight into the peculiarities of such relative clauses.
Therefore, the main goal of this work is to look at the most important syntactic-semantic
and contextual conditions in which this phenomenon occurs, and to consider
the importance of its correct recognition when translating into Serbian / Croatian
/ Bosnian. In the introductory part of the paper, the goals and methodological
procedures are explained. In the theoretical part, a review is given of the research
of the mentioned phenomenon in the literature. The third, main part of the work,
contains the analysis of the examples from the corpus, while in the fourth part the
main conclusions resulting from the analysis are presented.
