Abstract
In Novi Vinodolski on the 16th of June 2006. a professionalscientific meeting was held concerning the first free territory in Croatian Primorje, indeed in the region of Vinodol. It was held within a framework of marking the sixtieth an niversary of the antifascism fight in Europe, and the issue was chosen due to the importance to examine one inadequate and very important fact that the uprising against fascism started here right after the fascist occupation, and that here was the first freed territory in the Croatian Primorje. The ers tried to approach the issue in its entirety, but also to emphasize the role of the common people in these undertakings, not diminishing the importance of KPH and individual figures of the uprising. In short, the meeting showed that the uprising would not have given the right results had the common people not organized as the logistics of the uprising, and also put in place the first national government. That is why the common people found themselves first on the target of the occupiers, who brutally fought with them, sending them into intimidation, burning houses and economical buildings, and even not shying away from slaughter. The enemy was very bitter, because the first Partisan units exulted increasing pressure on the enemy crew and units in command. They lost control over infrastructures and a part of the occupied territory, and the partisan units intensified their actions. The first freed territory was in the mountain region of Vinodol. The biggest role in all of this played the first partisan squadron founded at Viševica at the end of July 1941. from where the number of fighters multiplied, new military units were created and the antifascism fight grew.
