Abstract

Air transport is one of the most developed but also one of the youngest branches of transport. It is characterized by a high level of security despite the fact that air crashes may have catastrophic consequences. Fortunately, air transport accidents occur far more rarely than accidents in other sectors of transport. The legislator’s efforts to improve passenger protection have resulted in the passing of new legal sources and improvement of the existing regulations both on national and international level. As the weaker contracting party, the passenger should be protected in relation to the air carrier/contractor because it is obvious that the relation between the parties is unfair. Therefore passenger rights in air transportation are protected both by international conventions and by national legislation. This paper analyses passenger rights in situations of denied boarding, cancelled flight and longer flight delay.
