Abstract

This paper interprets the biblical intertext in the novella »The Little Prince« by the French author Antoine de Saint Exupéry. Features of the sacred story in the text are stressed as are also the key characters who are prefigurations of biblical persona. Similarities between minor episodes in the novella and texts from the Book of Proverbs are analyzed, and symbols of Christian tradition, such as Christmas gifts, are also emphasized. The work uses biblical symbols and alters their aspect by placing them in a new context, while maintaining respect for and familiarity with the Bible and Christian tradition.
