Abstract

This essay probes into the question of what man's primary task might be and what renders it such. It discusses the impossibility of man's remaining in his immanence and achieving self-realization at the same time. Man realizes himself through his interactions with the people in his midst, but especially by means of dialogue with others: dialogue is made possible through common insights into the basic determination of being and through one's comprehension of one's unconditional obligation to actively strive for the good. In this way man opens himself up to the world of another's individuality and to love as a fact which determines not only his mere survival, but the true humanization of his self.
