Abstract

The first part of this two–part paper presents Zimmermann’s theistic view of theworld. Namely, his reflection on life, i.e. his view of both the world and man, is neithertheological nor psychological, but exclusively philosophical. Thus, according toour philosopher Zimmermann, a wholly theistic view gives a correct and completeanswer to philosophical questions. The second part of the paper thematizes Zimmermann’spresentation of Jesus Christ: in fact, at the centre of Zimmermann’s theisticphilosophical reflection is the person of Jesus Christ. According to Zimmermann, JesusChrist reveals to man two realities: a) that there is a supernatural purpose to life;b) that the only path which leads us to the supernatural purpose is a life lived morally. Thus, in view of Zimmermann’s philosophical oeuvre, the paper concludes that heis a philosophical writer who reflects on speculative and life questions, and then inthis same context, reflects also on the question of Jesus Christ and his significancetoday in regard to the world and in regard to the life of man. He does this within theframework of a philosophy which is theistically oriented.
