Abstract

In the article, the authors discuss the inventory of John Kašić, a respectable nobleman of Nin and Zadar and doctor of both civil law and canon law. The inventory is kept in the State Archive of Zadar. The article is divided into several chapters, in which numerous components of Kašić’s life and agency are discussed. Thus the data on the Kašić family and the most important scions of it, the predecessors of John, and his life and activity in the literary field, have been given in the first part of the article, while in the second emphasis has been placed on the description and the analysis of his inventory. The content of his inventory has been described in detail, from lists and descriptions of different types of mobile goods, clothes, linen, documents, and numerous other objects. The rich and diverse library of John Kašić, which contained more than 400 books, is particularly emphasised. As an appendix to the article, the transcription of the inventory is published.
