State of the postmodern moral subject and pluralistic society

Abstract
The article deals with the critical analysis of the state of the so-called postmodern moral subject. The analysis of such a state reveals two essential elements: the postmodern moral subject recognizes the idea of good only in the idea of absolute autonomy; on the other hand, he conceives its rationality instrumentally. Such a conception of rationality understands that the moral reason of the subject is not valorized axiologically but analytically, i.e. procedurally. Both elements are submitted here to a detailed analysis and constructive criticism which, as such, does not tend to deny either the justified autonomy of man nor the appropriate analytical rationality; it only tries to observe the devastating effects of the absolute autonomy of man and, in this context, of the analytical rationality toward a supposed idea of good for men which is capable to build up his moral identity. In order to give to this analysis a contextual actuality, the author brings the attention of the reader, taking the example of homosexuality, to the devastating strength of absolute autonomy and, In this context, of the analytical rationality which becomes, consequently, relativistlc in its character.
