Sažetak
The pomological characteristics and fruit quality of traditional apple cultivars in the territory of the Topusko municipality was studied.Determination is confirmed that they were fruits of cultivars ‘Bobovec’, ‘Božićnica’, ‘Citronka’, ‘Lijepocvjetka’ and ‘Zlatna zimska parmenka’. It was determined that analised varieties signifficantly differ in investigated fruit characteristics after applying physical and chemical analyses. The highest fruit weight, height and width was measured in cultivar ‘Lijepocvjetka’, and the lowest in cultivar 'Bobovec’. The highest fruit firmness had a cultivar ‘Citronka’ and the lowest ‘Lijepocvjetka’. Fruit of the cultivar ‘Zlatna zimska parmenka’ had the highest and the fruit of cultivar ‘Božićnica’ had the lowest soluble solids content . Fruits of cultivars ‘Lijepocvjetka’, ‘Bobovec’ and ‘Zlatna zimska parmenka’ had significantly higher total acid content compared to the fruits of other two cultivars .
Due to the diversity of pomological characteristics, fruit quality and resistance to unfavorable abiotic and biotiv factors, it is important to preserve traditional apple varieties as a source of genetic variability as well as a factor of biodiversity of the area where they grow.
