Sažetak
In theory, the decision process evolves through stringently established stages and sub-stages. If managers were placed in a situation requiring them to view their problems in this context, it would be interesting to observe their interpretations of the individual stages of the decision process with regard to real-life problem situations. To this end, an empirical study was conducted to examine the various stages o f decision-making in actual problem situations applied by managers in the hotel industries of ¡stria and the Coastal region.
The majority of managers showed an interest in the study, and interview were conducted to determine the characteristics of managerial decision-making. The study has revealed that only to modest degree do managers solve problems in the proper manner i.e. according to the stages prescribed by the theory of decision-making.
