Sažetak

Global aging of the population occupies the attention of numerous professions, as
it is the key reason for the increased share of old people. Demographic data also
indicate a trend of further growth. Existing and upcoming generations of elders are
influenced by numerous changes that have immediate involvement in the way and
the quality of their life. These changes, associated with biological and psychological
factors, occur in the context of the existing and changing attitude of society towards
age and aging. Since many changes are not directly influenced by societal will, they
cannot be resisted or stopped. However, society can adapt to them and take its stand
towards these changes.
Upcoming elders are expected to change the perspective of a traditionally vulnerable
and dependent group by using all scientific, professional and technological advances,
into the perspective of active societal participants who change and enrich the society
they live in. The potential for adaptation and active and successful aging rests on
lifelong learning opportunities. Modern technologies, especially the use of ICT,
combined with the needs and motivation of the elderly, allow for adjusting the form,
way, and time and place of learning. Lifelong learning is correlated with the assessment
of the subjective well-being of the elderly and with the general quality of life and aging.
