Sažetak

The fact that the number of ethnic groups considerably surpasses the number of existing states, and that each ethnic community cannot possess its own state, points to the need of developing the system for international protection of minorities. The basic rights to which all humans are entitled, nowadays known under the general term of "human rights", which have undergone the evolution reaching the level of the basic international documents. In the contemporary world ethnic (national, linguistic, cultural, religious) minorities rights are considered to be the part of general human rights. Regardless this general consensus, the issue of recognizing the rights of minority representatives to specific protection, hasn't been equally regulated in different countries. Thus, one can speak about different models of protection of ethnic (national, linguistic, cultural, religious) minorities in particular countries.
