Sažetak

The study’s objective was to determine the sociodemographic characteristics and consumer preferences for local organic agricultural and food products in Osijek-Baranja County. Sociodemographic traits, purchasing frequency and form, product origin, and consumer willingness to pay higher prices for certified organic products were considered. The study involved 236 participants. The results indicated a strong support for the locally produced organic products and direct purchases from producers, as well as the importance of aligning prices with a perceived value. A Chi-square test revealed an association between the gender and preferences for purchasing organic products in supermarkets, with the women being more inclined to buy the organic products in supermarkets than the men. Both genders equally preferred buying locally produced products, while the age and education level did not significantly impact the purchasing preferences.
