Sažetak

In this paper, the author investigates the basic narrative strategies used in the novel Under Both Suns to create a culture of memory of the wars fought in the 90s of the 20th century on Yugoslav soil. Spahić, as the analysis will show, used the historical context to point out the destructive influence of war and the memory of the past on the inner state of the heroes and their mutual relationships. In addition, Spahić enabled the establishment of a critical dialogue towards the past, in order to avoid one-sided interpretations and to open a humanistic perspective of looking at our painful and traumatic historical heritage.
