Abstract

As a form of sustainable tourism policy, local-level souvenir production represents‎ an important component in reducing the environmental impact associated‎ with large-scale production and transportation of souvenirs, while simultaneously‎ contributing to the preservation of local culture and generating‎ economic benefits for local communities. This approach thereby becomes a ‎key element of sustainable destination management. Despite the importance ‎of this topic, it remains under-researched in the scientific literature and insufficiently‎ recognized by tourism policy-makers, highlighting an evident research‎ and practical gap in the existing body of literature on sustainable destination‎ management. This scoping review provides an overview and analysis of‎ the current empirical knowledge regarding local souvenir production and its ‎role in achieving tourism sustainability at the destination level. The PRISMA‎ flow diagram has been employed to illustrate the process of literature search‎ and selection for this analysis.‎
