Sažetak
Assessing a city’s image is important because perceptions of a city influence people’s decisions regarding living, working, and studying, while also shaping its attractiveness to residents, visitors, and potential investors. Understanding how different groups perceive a city enables strategic development planning, enhances quality of life, and supports more effective city marketing. This study analyzes the perception of Šibenik among the student population, with a particular focus on comparing the views of students from the Šibenik University of Applied Sciences and the University of Zagreb. The aim of the research was to examine how students perceive Šibenik as a potential place to live and work, and to identify the key elements that contribute to the city’s attractiveness in the eyes of young people, while also considering career preferences and quality-of-life factors. The study was conducted in October 2024 on two independent samples, totaling 286 respondents, using a standardized questionnaire consisting of 29 questions divided into three thematic sections: demographic data, career-related information, and city perception. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods, including t-tests and chi-square tests of independence. The results indicate that students value the balance between work and private life the most, while differences between the groups were observed for certain evaluated elements. Overall, Šibenik is perceived positively in terms of safety, housing opportunities, and a pleasant atmosphere.
