Sažetak

The fonds of the Historical Diocesan Archives and Libraries of Udine contain various manuscript sources relating to the history of the Istrian dioceses, dating from the 12th to the 19th centuries. In the Archives of the Archbishop’s Curia, these sources can be found in the series Atti metropolitici (Metropolitan Acts), Appellazioni (Appeals), Filze (Bundles), Acta Curiae, Chiese a parte Imperii (Churches in the imperial part) as well as in the Nuovi manoscritti (New Manuscripts) fonds. The Capitular Archives, which comprises the Archives of the Chapter of Aquileia, the Archives of the Collegiate Chapter of Udine and the Archives of the Metropolitan Chapter of Udine, preserves the most important and wellknown documents, particularly those relating to the medieval period, in the collection of parchments and in the Documenta historica, Miscellanea e Varia Patriarchalia series of the Bini aggregate fonds. The Archives of the Collegiate Chapter of Udine, in the Notai (Notaries) series, contains documents related to a trial from the end of the 15th century. Documentation regarding the Istrian dioceses is also present in the manuscript fonds of the three Historical Libraries, the Archbishop’s Library, the Bartholinian Library and the Chapter Library. The small Chapter Library houses three copies of the Thesaurus Ecclesiae Aquileiensis, the oldest of which dates back to the 14th century. In the Archbishop’s Library, manuscripts 152 and 162 contain copies and originals of numerous medieval documents on Istria, while in the Bartoliniana Library there are only three letters on botanical subjects written by Giovanni Domenico Stratico, Bishop of Novigrad, bound in manuscript 162. This review of sources for the history of the Istrian dioceses makes no claim to be exhaustive, but merely aims to present the documentation that has been found and the type of sources that the Historical Diocesan Archives and Libraries of Udine can offer researchers.
