Sažetak
The study Media and Information Literacy in the Digital Age - Challenges
and Opportunities analyzed the influence of age and education on media
use and self-assessment of media literacy in a sample of 200 respondents. The
regression coefficient for age showed that for each additional year of age, the
average time spent on social networks decreases by 0.525 hours (31.5 minutes
per day), while the perceived importance of tolerance increased by 0.13 units.
Respondents with higher levels of education set stricter criteria when evaluating
their own media and information literacy. High scores on statistical tests
of suitability supported the justification of factor analysis, the implementation
of which identified six key factors encompassing attitudes about the influence
of media on social interaction, education that encourages critical thinking, and
children’s exposure to media content. The results obtained suggest the need for
more intensive work on media and information literacy in order to increase the
ability to critically evaluate media content and promote its conscious use.
