Sažetak
In today’s business environment, where technologies such as cloud computing (CC), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and the Internet of Things (IoT) have a dominant influence, data has become a key resource for decision-making and business process optimization. ERP systems serve as the backbone of every business and play a crucial role in managing this data. Therefore, selecting the right ERP system is a critical decision for future business success. With technological advancements, there has been a shift from on-premise ERP systems to cloud ERP systems. This transition raises numerous questions regarding the advantages, challenges, and selection criteria for the optimal solution. The aim of this paper is to explore the key factors influencing the decision to adopt a cloud ERP system, considering economic, technical, human, and business aspects. The paper provides a systematic overview of the benefits and challenges of cloud ERP systems compared to on-premise ERP systems and examines how the identified factors impact the decision-making process – selection of ERP system. Based on the conducted research, a template has been developed to serve as an objective framework for organizations to evaluate and select a cloud ERP system tailored to their specific business needs. The expected contribution of this paper lies in providing practical guidelines for managers and IT professionals who make strategic decisions regarding ERP system and select and/or implement ERP system, thereby facilitating the digital transformation process of enterprises.
