Sažetak

Developed motor ability balance contributes to
success of professional alpine skiers and moreover has an
important role in injury prevention. The aim of this
research was to investigate the correlation of different
laboratory balance tests with success of alpine ski learning
in ski beginners. Balance was tested in 119 alpine ski
beginners with three laboratory balance tests, and the level
of obtained ski knowledge was assessed on five chosen
elements of ski technique: traversing, uphill turn, snow
plough turn, basic turn and short turn. Significant
correlation was obtained between results in lateral tilt test
on plywood balance board and all five elements of alpine
ski technique (r=0.22; r=0.25; r=0.20; r=0.19 and r=0.20).
Moreover results were significant between four tests used
to evaluate alpine ski knowledge (uphill turn, snow
plough turn, basic turn and short turn) and balance test on
both-side used balance board (r=0.19; r=0.24; r=0.28 and
r=0.20), as well as between uphill turn, snow plough turn
and basic turn and front-back tilt test on balance board
(r=0.17; r=0.22 and r=0.17). To conclude, our results
show that participants doing better on balance tests
achieve better results in learning alpine ski technique and
vice versa.
