Abstract

The paper discusses the question of the most appropriate route for a modern link road between Zagreb and Split. Emphasis is placed on the necessary correction of economicadvantages arising from geopolitical reality, which will most likely have increased long-term importance. Instead of using the existing Lika Mainroad the author advocates using the Zagreb-Split route passing more through the west central Lika, and then by a tunnel through the Velebit Mounatain leading to Ravni Kotari and Zadar, thus, avoiding a problematic area with a predominantly Serbian population.
