Abstract

In order to achieve maximum motivation and success in teaching students in higher education, it
is necessary to use different forms of teaching. The aim of this article is to define the form of team
teaching and to identify the advantages and disadvantages of it. For this purpose a team teaching
lecture of English and physics was held with eleven students in the fourth semester at the Department
of Physics at the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek. During the research and preparation
for this team teaching lecture a number of open questions appeared and were answered by the authors
/ teachers. The results of the team teaching lecture and mutual gained experience (teacher – student)
show that this innovative approach provides a richer educational environment both for students and
for teachers, which increases the efficiency of the teaching process. This form of teaching enabled teachers
and students new roles in the educational system, which is a key factor in increasing the competitiveness
at colleges, universities and study programs. However, a successful implementation of team
teaching requires common elements of the team members that need to be aligned with the curriculum
and other participants in the educational process.
