Abstract

The analysis of crime rate in Croatia has shown that traffic delinquency takes up the leading position. Significant danger for the society from such behaviour as well as an aspiration to harmonize Croatian criminal law with European standards have motivated Croatian legislator to a substantial reform of criminal acts in traffic in the new Criminal Code. In spite of the fact that theoretically and in practice it is a significant issue it has been relatively less covered in the recent Croatian scientific literature. In order to give contribution to resolving this problem area the authors analyse the essential points of the former development of the criminal law regulation concerning traffic delinquency in Croatia and then present and critically deal with new legal solutions, bearing in mind particular cases of the recent Croatian court rulings.
