Abstract

The alcohol and drug addiction, smoking, aggression, unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity are just some of the problems that threaten the health of the school population. Social focus on issues of addiction in Croatia is much more apparent in 2010, when in most of croatian counties, including Zadar county, county health plans are made. Recognizing addiction as a public health priority, with a clearly defined need of the entire community mobilization, has resulted in application of more efficient interventions in the fight against addiction, in which interventions the role of the school is essential. The aim of this paper is to present the methodology for integrating prevention program titled "Life Skills Training" in the curricula of primary schools in Zadar County and to define certain guidelines in the fight against addiction. Unique and in practice proven Project Cycle Management /PCM methodology of integrating prevention programs could represent and serve as a practical guide for implementing quality interventions in the fight against addiction to the teachers and scholars in the field of education and training and to the decision-makers in the community.
