Abstract

Sorts of table grapes ripe here from the end of July to the mid October. They are mostly used as assortment addition to a vineyard, on grape arbors, around houses. By choosing sorts well, we can have fresh grapes at home during the entire mentioned period.
Sorts of table grapes are used nowadays for consuming fresh or processed by drying, preserving or candying.
They also require different technology of cultivation and care, and more manual work. With table sorts nowadays, high cultivating forms are used exclusively, the most often being different forms of trellises of grapes or “tendonas”, which are connected by a strong armature construction.
Because of that, but also because of high initial investments and a small number of adequate localities in our country, table grapes are mostly imported. But that is not the reason for these sorts to not to be able to be cultivated locally on smaller parcels for personal needs, market-halls, tourist households and tourism in general.
Sorts are classified according to ripening by Pulliat method. Characteristics which table grapes sorts should have are listed. Sorts that can mostly be purchased and cultivated here, in continental areas of Croatia and in Dalmatia, have been described. The description lists synonyms, origin and spread, botanical characteristics, economical and technological characteristics, as well as use and economic significance.
