Abstract

Potato tubers are stored after harvest in order to provide market with fresh and processing potatoes yearlong. Losses of potatoes during storage are due to transpiration and respiration as well as diseases and disorders. Many plant pathogenic fungi can cause rots of potatoes in storage, e.g. Fusarium spp. Link, Phytophthora infestans (Mont.) de Bary , P. erythroseptica Pethybr. and Pythium spp. Pringsh. Species like Helmintosporium solani Durieu & Mont and Rhizoctonia solani J.G. Kuhn have cosmetic effect on tubers, and therefore reduce value of potatoes. In this review simptomatology, biology and disease management of potato storage pathogens mentioned above are briefly discussed.
