ANALYSIS OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN SELECTED COMPANY

Abstract

Business stakeholders put pressure on companies to raise the level of social responsibility related to human rights, competition issues (market competition), ethics and the environment. The company dm-drogerie markt, although recognized as an exemplary social responsible company, has not been spared the pressure. The problem of the research is the nonexistence of empirical evidence of the connection between social responsibility and sustainable development in the mentioned company. The aim of this paper is to determine if the socially responsible business management affects the sustainable development of the company and how to use the social responsibility for sustainable company development. To achieve this goal we used secondary literature (the analysis of relevant company's documents and relevant scientific and expert literature) as well as primary research (the analysis of the research carried out by portal My Job on the sample of 330 employees (N=330) and a half-structured interview with six managers (N=6) in a chosen company). The results lead to the conclusion that the socially responsible business management of dm-drogerie markt d.o.o. affects the company's sustainable development. Through correct relationship towards the internal stakeholders (employees and management) and external stakeholders (consumers, suppliers and local community, environmental protection) dm-drogerie markt d.o.o. brings about changes in its surroundings, improves the employees’, the consumers’ and partners’ awareness of the environment and social conscience and ensures sustainable development.
