Abstract

Illegal migrations in almost all parts of the world and especially towards highly developed regions have reached such intensity that they started to have an impact on security of certain countries. In order to prevent illegal migrations, countries started to have much stronger systems of the state borders or on regional and global level. From standpoint of the Republic of Croatia, measures and activities taken in this field on the territory of the European Union require particular attention as especially so-called security deficit, created after control on internal borders had been abolished, needed to be alleviated. As the Republic of Croatia is undergoing the process of approaching the European Union, it will have to acknowledge the so far achieved standards in this field and implement them into its national legislation.
