Abstract

Military diplomacy is in a process of evolution due to membership of countries in international organizations, in particular NATO. Bilateral military, defense and also security relations of small countries remain an important tool of cooperation in spite of an increase of multilateralism. The military attaché represents the defense system of the sending state at the receiving s tate and is a member of the diplomatic personnel of the mission. A comparison of the military attaché network of Denmark, Slovenia and Croatia (including the foreign attaches) shows that the most important residing locations are neighboring countries as well as European and world centers. The principle of reciprocity plays an important role. Constant instructing is of key importance far successful attaché work.
