Abstract

The aim of the article is to discuss how the novel Pesma (Song, 1952) uses literary means to demonstrate what politics does against people, rather than for them. Ideologies are thematic; therefore, ideologically imbued factors are essential in the interpretation of the political in the novel Pesma, which we will try to deepen through the interpretation of the political and narratological aspects of the work itself. Two creative principles – poetics and politics – are opposed in the novel Pesma. The position of poetry in a politicized society, the influence of poetry on politics and its manifestations, these are the main preoccupations of the protagonists of Oskar Davičo’s novel. These two concepts are realized in the novel as the registers of the two main characters, which this paper intends to interpret.
