Abstract

The third age is characterized by major life changes, of which retirement is one of the biggest from the social aspect. In order for a person to successfully overcome this period, which can often be stressful, it is necessary to reorganize life, restructure time, accept new social roles. Lifelong learning can play an important role in this period, and involvement in various forms of organized educational programs can give new meaning to a later period of a person’s life psychophysically, emotionally and socially. Programs that are offered to so-called people of the third age must be carefully designed, the specifics of working with seniors should be respected in the educational process, and teachers should be additionally educated for that work. The number of elderly people is growing both in our country and in the world, and it is certain that for some of them further education will be a choice in the so-called crisis years of their lives.
