Abstract

This article illustrates and explains the important contributions of Antonio Labriola to philosophy of education. This Italian thinker from the end of the 19th century up until the beginning of the 20th century paid particular attention to the problems of education. Affirming Socratic method of inquiry, he argued that the main aim of education is teaching of critical thinking. In the realization of this goal he stresses the importance played by philosophy.
