Sažetak
Students' interest in physics and natural sciences is an important
contribution to the motivation of students and has positive effects on learning and
understanding of the scientific content. Personal and situational interests encourage
and create optimum conditions for learning.
The aim of this study is to determine how constructivist teaching of physics, which
includes aspects of nature of science, and the traditional teaching, affect the
development of personal and situational interest. Research was carried out with
seventh grade students. The initial test measured personal and situational interest.
After using constructivist and traditional principles in teaching the subject, final
measurements were conducted. Results of the research have shown that the form of
personal and situational interest in physics in the constructivist group remained
largely preserved or became slightly increased, while the interest of the traditional
group generally declined.
This study confirmed the effectiveness of educational constructivism as the most
effective strategy for learning physics, for development and conservation of the
interest for elementary school teaching of physics.
