Aroma in feedin fattening pigs

Sažetak

Research on different aroma based on plant extracts as growth stimulators in feeding fattening pigs showed that the examined aroma had a positive effect on growth gain, consumption and conversion of feed, utilization of dry organic matter and proteins, on dressing as well as on gain cost of investigated animals. There was no effect of aroma in diets on meatiness of carcasses. Our earlier research showed positive effects of aroma in feeds for sows, piglets and fattening pigs. The aim of our research present¬ed in this paper was to examine the effects of 0.04% of apple aroma in the feed mixture for fattening pigs. The trials were carried out on the experimental pig farm of the Institute for Animal Breeding, Belgrade - Zemun in Serbia and Montenegro. The criteria for evaluating the results obtained were production results, the degree of nutritive matter utilization, slaughter indicat¬ors and economic analysis of pig gain cost. The results obtained showed that: - using aroma in feed mixtures for pigs increased the gain by 4.78% in comparison with the feed mixture of equal composition without aroma - the feed mixture with aroma increased the feed consumption by 1.9% in trial animals - pigs fed aromatic diets consumed less feed by 3.75% per 1 kg of body gain - supplemented aroma positively affected the degree of dry and or¬ganic matter utilization and raw proteins from the feed mixture - the use of aroma showed the tendency of improvement in dressing and had no effect on pig meatiness - with respect to economic justification the investigated aroma in pig fattening reduced the cost of gain by 2.0% Generally, the examined aroma showed positive effects on al the investigated indicators in feeding fattening pigs.
